Helping Quad City urban students realize their full potential - in school and in life

Scholarships

QC United is committed to providing educational opportunities for Quad City graduates from Iowa and Illinois with special attention given to the underserved and the economically disadvantaged populations.

The QC United Scholarship is awarded to five graduating high school seniors each year who have attended an Iowa or Illinois Quad City high school and who are planning to attend one of the following colleges: Augustana College, Black Hawk College, St. Ambrose University, Scott Community College or Western Illinois University, QC Campus.

This is a matching-fund scholarship; meaning that QC United has formed partnerships with the above identified schools and that each of these schools has agreed to provide matching funds for one or more years. (For example, a student who is awarded a $400 scholarship from QC United will also receive at least $400 from one of the schools listed above).  There will be a minimum of one scholarship. The number of QC United scholarship recipients each year and the scholarship amount is determined by the QC United Board of Directors and is based on available funds raised at the Annual Swing into Education Golf Tournament that occurs the 3rd Saturday each June.

The Reece Morgan Community Scholarship

The Coach Reece Morgan Community Scholarship is awarded annually to one or more graduating Quad City high school seniors who have served as role models in the community and who have worked hard to achieve academic success. This grant is named in honor of Coach Reece Morgan, a man who spent his life assisting area youth in reaching their dreams and who strongly encouraged students to challenge themselves academically. Reece was a strong advocate for the pursuit of higher education. The number of recipients each year and the scholarship amount is determined by the QC United scholarship committee AND IS BASED ON THE FUNDS RAISED DURING THE ANNUAL “SWING INTO EDUCATION” GOLF TOURNAMENT. The scholarship amount ranges between$400 and $1000.

Student Testimonials

"I want to help others smile and get better, the same way that my family and the nursing staff did for me. To accomplish this goal, I plan to major in nursing and minor in Spanish at St. Ambrose University".
Mayra Vasquez- Davenport Central High School

"When I see something like a car, I don't just want to know what it is or how to use it. I want to know how it work and why it's creators decided to make it work that way. More importantly, I like to think how I could make it better. My goal is to become an engineer who enhances people's lives through the things they use."
Ben Schoonmaker – Rock Island. Illinois
